At the head of the kingdom is the Faceless King. He remains a ruler only in name for he has renounced all duties but his title. The Faceless King has no wife or children that would be able to contend for the role of an actual successor, so during the Renouncement he told all major Familia that he will respect and honor the decision of however they chose to create the new Ruler.
Having revered the power of magic since forever, the Familia would decide who would be the next ruler by a trial of tests. A three stage competition where the winner, the last one standing, will be crowned the next Ruler of Lumen until their death. It is an intense competition where each house may select three contenders to enter the arena. Only three magicians from Non-Familias are able to enter the Arena. Their entrance is granted by virtue of a ticket which is hidden somewhere in the kingdom one week before the competition is to start. One may steal, kill, or buy the ticket from whoever possesses it, but the fact remains that the ticket is the only way into the arena. One may enter the competition even if they’re not a magician, but their chances of winning or even surviving is low.
Note: Below are the three stages of the competition. More will be expanded later either during the actual RP or if a character’s backstory pertains to it.
