There are three officially recognized Tiers of magic. The higher the level the more skillful one is at their magic type. One may improve their tier level with training and connectedness to nature -- but to legally be recognized as a certain tier one must pass the Standardization Tier Test (STT).

**Some stats about magic:**

65% of the population can use magic in some way or another

80% of all magic users are Tier I

19.5% of all magic users are Tier II

0.5% of all magic users are Tier III (No PC can be Tier III - yet)

Those in higher Tiers are offered better jobs relating to magic and are given de facto cool guy points.
