Here is a lit of some of the biggest celebrations in Lumen.
An event that isn't so much of a "big celebration" as it's a monthly ritual. Every month on the night of the full moon people place jars of ocean water in their window sills. Each jar is decorated and infused with herbs, flowers, or spices, to signify what they hope the next month will bring. The thought is, the moon is the source of their most powerful magic, and the moon directly influences the ocean. They believe the ocean has magical properties in it that allows it to infuse magic in organic things like food. There is no evidence that is does work, but there isn't any evidence that it doesn't either. Some testimonials say that it was due to their diligence during this time, and their belief in the ocean's power, that it worked for them.
Some common combinations are:
+. Rose + Sage for a strength in relationships
+. Oleander + Star Anise for good luck in work
+. Rosemary + Thyme for protection against illness.
Its name is translated into "Winter's Kiss", and it occurs the second to last month of the year. People tend to start planning for the new year during this time, mainly farmers. They take a journey to their nearest holy ground, and try to find Parvas, an omen of luck, to bring them success during the harshest time of year for crops. It's said that the land provides Parvas to the people to help with winter's kiss over their field, and to make their crops flourish in the spring. The Parvars, once captured live in the land, and tend to it during the winter, imbuing it with magic.
Parvas are hard to find, even at the holy land. Only a handful of people who journey to the holy hand are able to see one, let one catch them. They are cute, but are scaredy cats. They seem to like Veggie Buns a lot, and can sometimes be lured out with the smell of particularly good smelling ones. Unfortunately, they cannot be bred, and they seem to die / be reabsorbed by the land come Spring.
A country wide event, at exactly 13:00 everyone starts to play the song they all know by heart, and taught children from a very young age. It's a night to behold, as the festivities that happen before hand are joyous and filled with laughter and high spirits. Banquets are frequent, and food is overflowing in the streets (usually). Games are played in the town center, where prizes can be won, and fashion contests are always a must. But to describe the actual event itself, it's something magical. A lone traveler once wrote this in their journal, transversing Lumen from one city to the next.
